We start the day travelling across the Mojave Desert, and head up the Colorado Plateau and historic route 66, before arriving to Sedona. Known as the jewel of the desert and considered as one of the most beautiful places in America. Drive the breathtaking scenic Oak Creek Canyon that descends 2000 feet (610 meters) to the valley floor. We stop for photos of the red rocks and surroundings at the Oak Creek Canyon overlook, and the slide rock state park. Enjoy a lunch break in Sedona where you can browse authentic Indian arts and crafts stores together with unique boutiques and galleries.
After our break we head out to the surrounding desert to visit the Chapel of the Holy Cross (self-guided visit using local shuttle service) and enjoy panoramic views of the Sedona red rock formations including Bell Rock, Courthouse Butte and Cathedral rock.
In the late afternoon we depart the Sedona area to Page for overnight.
Day 2: SEDONA – MONUMENT VALLEY – HORSESHOE BEND
Monument Valley
The stunning region on the Colorado Plateau if often filmed and photographed to portray the American West and was a favorite movie shoot location for director John Ford's many Westerns. Monument Valley features an artistic mix of colorful red sandstone formations up to 1,000 feet tall, vast desert lands and scenic horizons. The majority of it is within the 30,000-acre Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park created in 1958 and is located on the Utah and Arizona border. Monument Valley notable landmarks are the former Goulding Trading Post, Totem Pole, King on His Throne, West Mitten Butte, Three Sisters, The Hub and Rain God Mesa. The area also is near The Four Corners Monument.
Horseshoe Bend
Horseshoe Bend is the meander of the Colorado River, located near the town of Page, Arizona, named after its Horseshoe shape. It is located in the Glen Canyon Recreational Area, 5 miles downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell. Many come to see the Horseshoe Bend and overlook 42,000 feet on the Bend via the steep cliff above the meander.
SEDONA – MONUMENT VALLEY – HORSESHOE BEND
We start the day heading into Monument valley, one of the Iconic symbols of the American West and one of the most majestic and photographed points in the world.
Deep in the heart of the Navajo nation lies this majestic park, which consists of sandstone masterpieces that tower from 400 – 1000 feet (up to 300 meters) around these sandstone towers you can find mesas buttes shrubs and trees. Our visit starts with a jeep tour with led by Navajo Indians. The tour will take you down into the valley and you will experience firsthand why the Navajo call this land “like no other place on earth”. We head to the mighty Colorado River, for a visit to “Horseshoe Bend” a spectacular sight unique to this region of the country.
Day 3: ANTELOPE CANYON – VALLEY OF FIRE – LAS VEGAS
Antelope Canyon
The popular prismatic slot canyon is located on Navajo Native American land near Page, Arizona and is divided into upper and lower sections. Antelope Canyon was shaped by rainwater erosion of Navajo Sandstone and is only accessible through a guided tour. Often referred to as Corkscrew Canyon, this beautiful natural attraction features a rainbow of colors making it a favorite locations for photographers.
Valley Of Fire State Park
Nevada's oldest and largest state park is a remarkable palette of reds earning its name of Valley of Fire State Park from the vivid sandstone formations. It was established in 1935 and contains Native American petroglyphs that are more than 3,000 years old. The 34,880-acre U.S. National Natural Landmark also features canyons, sand dunes, petrified wood and many interesting rock formations. Notable sites are Atlatl Rock, Elephant Rock, Fire Canyon Arch, Windstone Arch and a visitor center.
We start the day where “The water runs through the rocks” as per the local Navajo folklore. We tour the lower Antelope Canyon and visit the spectacular dunes created by the wind, water and sand; words are not enough to describe these formations created by Mother Nature. After our tour we depart this amazing area and start making our way back to Las Vegas, along the way we stop for a lunch break and then visit the “Valley of Fire” named for the magnificent red sandstone formations created from shifting sands and dunes during the age of the dinosaurs more than 150 million years ago. Our visit is timed to be able to see the appearance of the valley being on “fire” when reflecting the powerful sun’s rays into the valley (weather permitting)

Beautiful Natural Realms
Amazing and inspiring natural realms, especially in contrast to over-the-top man-made Las Vegas. Antelope Canyon was as beautiful as expected---red sandstone lit by some sunlight (not best sun angles in the morning but still inspiring). Surprising was diverse rock formations and cliffs in Monument Valley. Empire Tour guide (Lorenzo) was great and informative---multilingual group with many Italians. Interesting multicultural group.
