Day 4: Jasper National Park-Maligne Lake-Maligne Canyon

Introduction:

Medicine Lake

Medicine Lake, also known as “the lake that disappears” is located 20 km southeast of the town of Jasper. Medicine lake is a 7 km long narrow lake that is formed by the Maligne River. Interesting enough, the lake loses water as it flows. Why is that you may ask? When the water is on its way to merge with the Athabasca river, it reaches the medicine lake area, and pools up to form the Lake over the largest inaccessible limestone cave system.

Maligne Lake

22km long, the majestic Maligne Lake is the second-largest natural lake in the Canadian Rockies. While its azure-blue waters can be cold for swimming, there are plenty of other activities to do in the Maligne Valley including hiking Bald and Opal Hills, biking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking and boat tours to Spirit Island. If you are feeling exceptionally adventurous, the 44km Skyline Trail begins at Maligne Lake and finishes near the town of Jasper. Make sure to bring your camera, it's one of the most photogenic places in Jasper National Park!

Tour Overview:

Check out from Jasper hotel, pass by [Medicine Lake], this mysterious lake is full of Indian legends and mystery. Shortly after, we will arrive at the world-famous [Maligne Lake] (Seasonal/*Alternative attraction: Pyramid Lake, Patricia Lake *) and take the 8 million Reader Digest subscribers voted the [Maligne Lake Cruise] as the "Best Boat Cruise in Canada" and access to [Spirit Island]. Next, we will have a lunch stop at [Maligne Lake Historical Chalet] (Optional lunch with additional charges, if less than 15pax for lunch booking, it may be replaced with a plate meal or self-choice lunch with soup, sandwich & dessert), then will visit [Maligne Canyon]. It is a great place to go if you want an adrenaline rush and adventure. Introduction:

Lake Louise

Lake Louise is a hamlet in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies, known for its turquoise, glacier-fed lake ringed by high peaks and overlooked by a stately chateau. Hiking trails wind up to the Lake Agnes Tea House for bird's-eye views. There's a canoe dock in summer, and a skating rink on the frozen lake in winter. The Lake Louise Ski Resort features a wildlife interpretive center at the top of a gondola.

MoraineLake

YohoNationalPark

Yoho National Park is in the Rocky Mountains, in eastern British Columbia, Canada. Waterfalls include Wapta Falls, on the Kicking Horse River, and towering Takakkaw Falls. Banff/Jasper
I want to sincerely thank the 3 guides my husband and I had during our trip to the Rockies. Simon, Lisa and Jaela. They were wonderful. Explanations and instructions were clear. They were always volunteering to take pictures, they always smiles and were very entertaining. I will definitely be traveling with Westar again. Also thank you to Louise who helped us plan the trip.

      Beautiful and great
We booked a 5 days trip (July 26th to 31st, ) from Calgary to Banff , then to Jasper with the Westar vacations. The whole trip was great. From the beautiful lakes to Falls, to hiking along the canyons, from hotels, to food to timing and organizing, everything is over our expectation and worry free! We have 3 tour guide, Yan, Michael, and the girl on day 1 (Sorry forgot her name), they are very responsible with nice patience and a sense of hummer. With them, we learn a lot of stories, history behind the nature beauty, an once again, worry free, just enjoy the beautiful nature.

      Good experience, but need improvement
In general, we had good experience. Tour guide is very helping during the trip, but they should provide more detailed trip plan in advance, so that we wouldn't get confused in the last minute.
