Day 1: Small Group Tour to Lower Antelope Canyon from Phoenix/Scottsdale/Tempe/Sedona/Flagstaff area

Introduction:

Antelope Canyon

The popular prismatic slot canyon is located on Navajo Native American land near Page, Arizona and is divided into upper and lower sections. Antelope Canyon was shaped by rainwater erosion of Navajo Sandstone and is only accessible through a guided tour. Often referred to as Corkscrew Canyon, this beautiful natural attraction features a rainbow of colors making it a favorite locations for photographers.

Horseshoe Bend

Horseshoe Bend is the meander of the Colorado River, located near the town of Page, Arizona, named after its Horseshoe shape. It is located in the Glen Canyon Recreational Area, 5 miles downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell. Many come to see the Horseshoe Bend and overlook 42,000 feet on the Bend via the steep cliff above the meander.

Tour Overview:

Departs: between 4:00am and 5:00am

Returns: between 6:30pm and 7:30pm

From the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, our route takes us through the Sonoran Desert up into the picturesque mountain town of Flagstaff. This historic Route 66 town lies at the base of the largest mountain range in Arizona, the San Francisco Peaks, which we will be able to gaze upon as we continue to travel north to the Lake Powell region. Along our way, we will enjoy a visit to a Navajo Trading Post and explore Navajo culture and their intricate crafts. Upon arrival to Page, Arizona, we will begin our tour of spectacular Lower Antelope Canyon.* Here, we will tour Lower Antelope Canyon with a local Navajo guide who will lead you through the amazing natural formations of this world famous slot canyon. The photo opportunities will be second to none! In addition to touring Lower Antelope Canyon, we also include photo stops along the majestic Lake Powell shoreline before stopping for a group lunch in Page at one of their unique eateries.

After our time in Antelope Canyon and Page, we will embark upon a scenic one-mile walk to Horseshoe Bend Overlook which is highlighted by awe-inspiring views into this deeply carved channel and the Colorado River below. Photos from the edge of this natural beauty are widespread across the world and are nothing short of amazing.

*To participate in this tour, guests must be able to perform the following movements: For Antelope Canyon – Can you walk on slanted, uneven sandstone and loose sand? Can you climb up and down steep metal ladders/stairs – some with railings? Antelope Canyon is not strenuous but does require agility, balance and grip. For Horseshoe Bend – Visiting this overlook requires a 1.5 mile round trip walk on a dirt path with no shade.

*Additional notes for Antelope Canyon – service animals are not allowed, purses/backpacks are not allowed unless they are clear, tripods are not allowed, hiking poles are not allowed.

Great Antelope Canyon Tour!
This was an excellent tour with Al as our guide (BTW that's A-L, not A-I - ha!). Great communication about pick-up, drop-off, time at stops, etc. We booked it mostly to see Antelope Canyon - which is amazing - but were equally in awe of Horseshoe Bend. Appreciated that we had lots of time to explore. Our Navajo guide, Bernice, at the canyon was fantastic. Highly recommend this tour!

Lower Antelope Canyon and Horse Bend Tour in Page
Awesome experience! Our guide Cody picked us up from the hotel and was very organized and knowledgeable. The Antelope Canyon native guides helped us take many spectacular photos for us. Not for those with ambulation problems or using wheelchairs or with clostraphobia as you will need to climb some stairs or maneuver in tight passages. Horseshoe Bend is nice but rainy and cold mid-40F so went back early. Highly recommend this tour!!!
