The history of this fascinating city is steeped in the founding of the United States. Visit Independence Hall to see the place where the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776 and the US Constitution was adopted in 1787. Both the United States Declaration of Independence and Constitution were signed at this historically significant Philadelphia structure that once had the famed Liberty Bell in its Bell Tower. Independence Hall was finished in 1753 using a design by Andrew Hamilton and Edmund Woolley under the orders of the Pennsylvania Colonial Legislature. Other important events that happened in this building were the appointment of George Washington to head the Continental Army in 1775, adoption of the U.S. Flag design in 1777 and the Articles of Confederation approval in 1781. Independence Hall, which is part of Independence National Historic Park, is a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site.

This Neo-classical domed United States government structure located atop Capitol Hill is a work of art on the inside as well as the out featuring many important American art pieces on display. Construction began on the United States Capitol in 1793 and its design can be attributed to many architects throughout the years. The landmark is where federal legislatures meet as well as a tourist attraction. A nearly 580,000-square-foot Visitor's Center was recently added to the building's underground. Points of interest are Capitol Rotunda, National Statuary Hall, Capitol Crypt, Exhibition Hall, U.S. Senate Chambers and U.S. House of Representatives Chambers.

Like its collection of exhibits, this Corning, New York nonprofit museum's sparkling structure celebrates the brilliance of glass and was built in 1951 as a gift to the people from Corning Glass Works, now Corning Inc., for its 100th anniversary. Corning Museum of Glass contains more than 45,000 glass artifacts with some 3,500-plus years old and has glass-making presentations, Make-Your-Own-Glass workshops, archives on the history of glass and many exhibits. Every year this natural wonder attracts more than 12 million visitors from all over the world looking to see the gorgeous Niagara Falls. Actually composed of three massive waterfalls -Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls - Niagara Falls straddle the border between the United States and Canada. Niagara Falls tours run throughout the year, whether rain or shine or snow. Spring and summer are the most popular times to visits as the famous Maid of the Mist cruise runs seasonal and gets visitors up close and personal with the falls. Horseshoe Falls, also known as Canadian Falls, is the largest of the three waterfalls that collectively form Niagara Falls on the Niagara River along the Canada–United States border. Approximately 90% of the Niagara River, after diversions for hydropower generation, flows over Horseshoe Falls. The remaining 10% flows over American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. It is located between Terrapin Point on Goat Island in the US state of New York, and Table Rock in the Canadian province of Ontario.

The 617-foot waterfall located within Yosemite National Park flows all year and might be best known from a famous Ansel Adams photograph. Ahwahneechee Native American legend says the spirit Pohono lives in the falls and puts a hex on anyone who looked directly at the falls. It also notes those who breathe in the water mist will have a better chance at marriage. Bridalveil Fall is the first waterfall that many guests see when entering the California national park.

This captivating New York state park's amazing 125-foot whirlpool moves counterclockwise 30-35 miles per hour and is caused from a change in the Niagara River's flow. Whirlpool State Park's street level allows for great views of the rapids and whirlpool and has a gorge natural history room, picnic area and playground. Its river level offers the best area for fishing and hiking with many fossils to view in the gorge. The Niagara Whirlpool is thought to have been created 4,200 years ago. 

The oldest higher learning institution in the United States also is one of the most prestigious and its graduates include 47 Nobel Laureates, 32 heads of state and 48 Pulitzer Prize recipients. Harvard University was founded in 1636 named after its first benefactor John Harvard who left part of his estate to the now Ivy League school after his death in 1638 and whose statue still stands in front of University Hall. The university is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts near Boston on 209 acres of land and has the largest academic library in the world. United States presidents John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Rutherford B. Hayes, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, George W. Bush and Barack Obama all graduated from Harvard University.
