Introduction:

Santa Barbara

A popular resort city for both Californians and beyond, Santa Barbara and the area around it have been inhabited for over 13,000 years and was the site of the excavation of the "Arlington Spring's Man" skeletal remains. Once a Spanish colonial town, the city still bears the same Spanish and Mission Colonial Revival styles of its founding alongside Victorian-style homes. It is home to a variety of festivals, including the Old Spanish Festival, Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Santa Barbara French Festival, and the Summer Solstice Parade.

Tour Overview:

Depart north up the spectacular California Coast to the first stop in Santa Barbara. Visit a Spanish Mission and learn how these religious outposts were key in the development of the entire region. Continue to Solvang, a quaint Danish community to browse in the local shops. We head north to the world-famous Route #1 where we get to see the spectacular California coastline up close (small vehicles will travel the southern portion of route 1 while full size coaches will travel the 17-mile drive exclusively). After our visit we visit the town of Carmel home to the actor Clint Eastwood. Enjoy some free time to stroll in town before departing to reach our hotel for overnight.

Depart north up the spectacular California Coast to the first stop in Santa Barbara. We start our tour when we stop at the heart of downtown at “state street promenade” stroll through the exclusive shops and restaurants at this beautiful part of town which is insulated from traffic while enjoying the architectural beauty, sights and sounds in a peaceful setting. Continue to Santa Barbara beaches and Stearns wharf to “walk on the water” and enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean, we finish our visit at the Spanish Mission Santa Barbara and learn how these religious outposts were key in the development of the entire region. From the mission we continue to Solvang, “the Danish capital of America” a quaint Danish community at the heart of California. Hoover Dam

This concrete marvel spanning the Colorado River in Black Canyon was built between 1931-36 and originally called the Boulder Dam until it was renamed in 1947 after United States President Herbert Hoover, who played an important role in getting it constructed. Hoover Dam extending from the states of Arizona and Nevada is one of the largest man-made structures in the world at 1,244 feet long and 726 feet high. It produces hydroelectric power, supplies irrigation water and prevents flooding. The U.S. National Historic Landmark that created Lake Mead is visited by more than seven million people annually. Hoover Dam designed by engineer John Savage and architect Gordan Kaufmann. Located nearby Lake Mead and the Grand Canyon, plenty of Hoover Dam tours will include a visit to all three of these amazing attractions.

Monument Valley

The stunning region on the Colorado Plateau if often filmed and photographed to portray the American West and was a favorite movie shoot location for director John Ford's many Westerns. Monument Valley features an artistic mix of colorful red sandstone formations up to 1,000 feet tall, vast desert lands and scenic horizons. The majority of it is within the 30,000-acre Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park created in 1958 and is located on the Utah and Arizona border. Monument Valley notable landmarks are the former Goulding Trading Post, Totem Pole, King on His Throne, West Mitten Butte, Three Sisters, The Hub and Rain God Mesa. The area also is near The Four Corners Monument.

Horseshoe Bend

Horseshoe Bend is the meander of the Colorado River, located near the town of Page, Arizona, named after its Horseshoe shape. It is located in the Glen Canyon Recreational Area, 5 miles downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell. Many come to see the Horseshoe Bend and overlook 42,000 feet on the Bend via the steep cliff above the meander.

Antelope Canyon

The popular prismatic slot canyon is located on Navajo Native American land near Page, Arizona and is divided into upper and lower sections. Antelope Canyon was shaped by rainwater erosion of Navajo Sandstone and is only accessible through a guided tour. Often referred to as Corkscrew Canyon, this beautiful natural attraction features a rainbow of colors making it a favorite locations for photographers.

Valley Of Fire State Park

Nevada's oldest and largest state park is a remarkable palette of reds earning its name of Valley of Fire State Park from the vivid sandstone formations. It was established in 1935 and contains Native American petroglyphs that are more than 3,000 years old. The 34,880-acre U.S. National Natural Landmark also features canyons, sand dunes, petrified wood and many interesting rock formations. Notable sites are Atlatl Rock, Elephant Rock, Fire Canyon Arch, Windstone Arch and a visitor center.

We start the day where “The water runs through the rocks” as per the local Navajo folklore. We tour the lower Antelope Canyon and visit the spectacular dunes created by the wind, water and sand; words are not enough to describe these formations created by Mother Nature. After our tour we depart this amazing area and start making our way back to Las Vegas, along the way we stop for a lunch break and then visit the “Valley of Fire” named for the magnificent red sandstone formations created from shifting sands and dunes during the age of the dinosaurs more than 150 million years ago. Our visit is timed to be able to see the appearance of the valley being on “fire” when reflecting the powerful sun’s rays into the valley (weather permitting)
Depart the Park for an early evening arrival in Las Vegas.
