Day 1: Lower Antelope Canyon

Introduction:

Antelope Canyon

The popular prismatic slot canyon is located on Navajo Native American land near Page, Arizona and is divided into upper and lower sections. Antelope Canyon was shaped by rainwater erosion of Navajo Sandstone and is only accessible through a guided tour. Often referred to as Corkscrew Canyon, this beautiful natural attraction features a rainbow of colors making it a favorite locations for photographers.

Tour Overview:

Over the years, Lower Antelope Canyon has become a favorite gathering place for photographers, tourists, and visitors from around the world.

The views in Lower Antelope Canyon change constantly as the sun moves across the sky, filtering lights softly across the stone walls. These ever-moving sun angles bounce light back and forth across the narrow canyon's walls, creating a dazzling display of color, light, and shadow.

The Navajo name for Lower Antelope Canyon is Hasdeztwazi or "Spiral Rock Arches." Many years ago, herds of Pronghorn Antelope roamed freely in and around the canyon, which explains the English name. This incredible canyon has been created over millions of years by the relentless forces of water and wind, slowly carving and sculpting the sandstone into forms, textures, and shapes which we observe today.

    Amazing experience at lower antelope
One the most beautiful trips in my life, once you're there, it seems like other planet, each structure is like a sculpture. The tour isn't short and the service, guides and infrastructure are awesome. This trip is a must if you visit the Grand Canyon.

    Better than upper!
Lower Antelope was our favorite! We took our tour with Carson and he was fantastic, took family pics, and played us a beautiful melody on his flute. The Lower Antelope is longer, easier to get walk-in tickets, and the sky views are amazing.

    Antelope visit
Amazing visit with a great guide. I recommend as it is a great experience. I did it with my young children so it is feasible as long as you can walk by her/himself. I recommend to take a cap, sunglasses and mask.

Dixie Lower Antelope Canyon Tour Company
On our week long road trip in AZ, my husband and I took a tour of lower Antelope Canyon. Our guide was Nadine. Not only was she extremely knowledgeable about the canyon, she helped everyone with taking great photos. She also took some breathtaking photos of each group or couple. Overall, we feel that this tour was our favorite. I recommend anyone in Page AZ take the tour. Nadine is a great asset.
