Introduction:

Monument Valley

The stunning region on the Colorado Plateau if often filmed and photographed to portray the American West and was a favorite movie shoot location for director John Ford's many Westerns. Monument Valley features an artistic mix of colorful red sandstone formations up to 1,000 feet tall, vast desert lands and scenic horizons. The majority of it is within the 30,000-acre Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park created in 1958 and is located on the Utah and Arizona border. Monument Valley notable landmarks are the former Goulding Trading Post, Totem Pole, King on His Throne, West Mitten Butte, Three Sisters, The Hub and Rain God Mesa. The area also is near The Four Corners Monument.

Tour Overview:

The 2.5HR tour covers 28 miles of rough terrain. Your tour guided will explain and point out all the rock formations, movie locations, as well as share with you our culture and traditional values. You will be getting on and off the truck to take spectacular pictures of Natural Arches, Anasazi Ruins, Petroglyphs and also optional is a visit to Grandma's Hogan. The visit at Grandma's Hogan well include a little demonstration about weaving and the dyeing of wool for our Traditional Navajo Handmade Rugs.

    • *There is a 1 hour time difference between Utah and Arizona so keep that in mind when you are booking.

    • *We recommend: you wear hiking shoes, bring a fully charged phone or camera, and a hat and raincoat if the weather permits. 

    • *Our vehicles are open air trucks that seat 12 people comfortably or you could reserve a closed in vehicle. We do have pet friendly vehicles . Please be sure to reserve and specify which you prefer. 

    • *To start the tour, park at the Monument Valley Visitor Center meet us at our tour booth. Take a look at the map to get directions to the visitor center

    Monument Valley magic!
    The scenery in the valley was incredible and John gave a fantastic account on a variety of matters - the geology, the people, their traditions and beliefs and even played his flute for us. He definitely gave life to the valley during our time with him.

    Worth it!
    Our tour guide Steven was knowledgable and polite and gave us an unforgettable day at the Monument Valley. We learnt about the Navajo history, culture and of course all about the monument. I will definitely would like him to be our tour guide again!

    Authentic and Engaging!
