Grand Teton National Park only included the Teton Mountains and six lakes when it was created back in 1929. It expanded throughout the years to include Jackson Hole National Monument, a 35,000-acre land donation from John D. Rockefeller Jr. and more federal property. The park's habitats are alpine, forests, sage brush and rivers, lakes and ponds with 61 species of mammals and 1,000-plus species of plants. Points of interest are the Snake River, Mount Moran, Jackson Lake, Grand Teton and Murie Ranch.

Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park, the America's first national park that was designated in 1872 boasts the largest geyser collection in the world including Old Faithful and is located in the U.S. states of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. Containing over 2 million acres, Yellowstone National Park is home to the largest high-altitude lake in North America and one of the biggest petrified forests in the world. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park also features 290-plus waterfalls, more than 70 different mammals, 322 bird species, 1,100+ plant species, 12 campgrounds and 9 visitor's centers. There are plenty of bus, snowmobiling, hiking, bird watching, and horseback guided tours in Yellowstone National Park. A Yellowstone tour will bring you to popular sites such as Old Faithful Geyser, Yellowstone Lake, Mammoth Hot Springs, Grand Prismatic Spring, and much, much more! With so much to see and do, you'll need multiple days to explore this amazing national park with a Yellowstone vacation package.

Yellowstone Lake

The largest high-altitude lake in North America is situated in Yellowstone National Park with a total area of 136 square miles including 110 miles along its shore and an elevation of 7,732. Points of interest around the natural lake that flows into the Yellowstone River are Lake Village, Fishing Bridge, Lake Lodge, Lake Yellowstone Hotel and The Lake Ranger Station.

Old Faithful

This natural wonder located in Upper Geyser Basin is certainly the most famous geyser in Yellowstone National Park and possibly the world with its eruptions occurring every 60-110 minutes spewing from 3,700-8,400 gallons of hot water anywhere from 106-184 feet in the air. Old Faithful was named during the Washburn Expedition of 1870 because of its predictability of eruptions that can last as long as five minutes. The nearby U.S. National Historic Landmark Old Faithful Inn and other unique structures are located within the Old Faithful Historic District.

It rises 1,267 feet (386 m) above the Belle Fourche River, standing 867 feet (265 m) from summit to base. The summit is 5,112 feet (1,559 m) above sea level.

His participation in several famous battles of the Black Hills War on the northern Great Plains, among them the Fetterman Fight in 1866 in which he acted as a decoy and the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876 in which he led a war party to victory, earned him great respect from both his enemies and his own people.
