The city was incorporated in 1850 using the name of the nearby Sacramento River. Sacramento highlights include the Tower Bridge, Old Sacramento, State Capitol, Sutter's Fort, Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament and City Historic Cemetery.

There are gambling establishments on the Nevada side of the lake that is surrounded by mountains and formed approximately two million years ago. Popular attractions are Emerald Bay, Cave Rock Tunnel, Secret Beach, Tahoe Treetop Adventure Park, Ehrman Mansion, Vikingsholm Castle, Tahoe Tessie's Lake Tahoe Monster Museum and Tahoe Amusement Park. Day 3: Reno – Perrine Bridge – Shoshone Falls – Snake River Valley – Pocatello

Introduction:

Perrine Bridge

One of only a few man-made structures in the U.S. where BASE jumping is allowed year-round without a permit, the Perrine Bridge spans 1,500 feet across and towers 486 feet above the Snake River. In 2005, Miles Daisher set a BASE jumping world record by launching 57 times from said bridge in a single day. Diasher and his wife organize the annual Bridge Festival and Parachutes for Kids, one of the highlights on the Perrine Bridge calendar of events. If extreme sports isn't your thing, the four-lane bridge has pedestrian walkways with views of the river and the cliffs, with the Blue Lakes, a park and two golf courses in the distance.

Shoshone Falls

These spectacular water falls are often called the "Niagara of the West" and are actually 45 feet taller than Niagara Falls as Shoshone Falls measure 212 feet. Shoshone Falls are situated on the Snake River, just a few miles from Twin Falls, Idaho. The falls are about 900 feet wide and flow at a rate of 400 cubic feet per second. Shoshone Falls are located with Shoshone Falls State Park that requires a small admission fee for entry.

Snake River Canyon

The remarkable canyon formed by the Snake River reaches depths of 500 feet and runs for more than five miles in Idaho's Magic Valley. Snake River Canyon was formed more than 14,000 years ago and was impacted by flooding of the prehistoric Lake Bonneville. Daredevil Evel Knievel made a failed attempt in 1974 to jump the canyon in a rocket.

Tour Overview:

Depart from Reno this morning and drive through the Great Basin Desert of America, enjoy the diversified landscapes of American West. We visit the Perrine Bridge and Shoshone Falls in the afternoon. Stay overnight in Pocatello Idaho.

Perrine Memorial Bridge --- When it was built way back in 1927, the Perrine Bridge in south-central Idaho was the highest in the world, at about 3,600 feet above sea level. The bridge is still a popular tourist attraction today.

Shoshone Falls --- Called the "Niagara of the West," this impressive waterfall in Idaho is 25 feet higher than Niagara and has a rim over one thousand feet wide. The flow over the falls is best in the spring.

Day 4: Yellowstone National Park

Introduction:

Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park, the America's first national park that was designated in 1872 boasts the largest geyser collection in the world including Old Faithful and is located in the U.S. states of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. Containing over 2 million acres, Yellowstone National Park is home to the largest high-altitude lake in North America and one of the biggest petrified forests in the world. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park also features 290-plus waterfalls, more than 70 different mammals, 322 bird species, 1,100+ plant species, 12 campgrounds and 9 visitor's centers. There are plenty of bus, snowmobiling, hiking, bird watching, and horseback guided tours in Yellowstone National Park. A Yellowstone tour will bring you to popular sites such as Old Faithful Geyser, Yellowstone Lake, Mammoth Hot Springs, Grand Prismatic Spring, and much, much more! With so much to see and do, you'll need multiple days to explore this amazing national park with a Yellowstone vacation package.

Tour Overview:

First of its kind, Yellowstone is home to world’s largest super volcano and over 10,000 geothermal features. Here you can find everything you expect to see in a national park! Snow covered mountains, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, canyons, meadows, herds of buffalos, elks… and the most amazing geothermal features in the world! Geysers, hot springs, fumaroles and mud pots are the wonders that make YS truly unique. Sightsee Grand Prismatic Spring, Fountain Paint Pots, and Old Faithful Geyser, Yellowstone Grand Canyon, Yellowstone River, Norris Geyser Basin. Spend the night in the Yellowstone Cabins or West Yellowstone.

Norris Geyser Basin --- the hottest and oldest thermal area of Yellowstone, we sightsee multiple hot springs, geysers and mud pots.

Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone --- This impressive gap in the earth is the first large canyon on the Yellowstone River. It is 24 miles long and can reach a quarter-mile in depth and 3/4 a mile in width. It is gorgeously colored.

Lower Yellowstone River Falls --- Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River in Wyoming are the largest by volume in the Rocky Mountains of the western United States, and they stand more than 300 feet tall-- almost twice as high as Niagara Falls.

Yellowstone Lake --- Yellowstone Lake isn't just the largest single body of water in Yellowstone National Park, but the largest elevated freshwater lake in the US. The lake contains several underwater hot springs that melt its otherwise thick ice sheets in the winter.

Artist Point --- Named after the famous sketches of the waterfalls by Thomas Moran (but not actually the location where the sketched were done) this beautiful location showcases one of the most famous views in Yellowstone National Park.

Fountain Paint Pot --- Fountain Paint Pot, heated by the region's underground hot springs, F.P.P is half hot spring, half mud basin. The spring releases natural shades of red and yellow because of the oxidation of iron in the soil.

Mud Volcano Area --- The Mud Volcano blew itself apart in the early 20th century, but visitors can still see the impressive crater and other geothermal features in the surrounding area, such as the Mud Cauldron, Black Dragon’s Caldron, and Dragon’s Mouth Spring.

Old Faithful Geyser --- Old Faithful is a cone geyser in the Upper Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park. It is one of the park's most well-known natural features and is famous for its predictability. It generally erupts every 92 minutes.

Upper Yellowstone Falls --- Located a quarter-mile upstream of the larger Lower Falls, the Upper Yellowstone River Falls plunge 109 feet down an eroded lava cliff into the basin below. The area below the falls has been subject to heavier erosion than above.

Grand Prismatic Hot Spring --- The third largest hot spring in the world, the Grand Prismatic Hot Spring gets its color from bacteria around its rim that feed off of the mineral-rich water. In the summer months, the hot spring is a vivid red-orange shade.

The major feature of the park is Bryce Canyon, which despite its name, is not a canyon, but a collection of giant natural amphitheaters along the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Day 7: Tuba – Grand Canyon National Park – East Rim – South Rim – Las Vegas

Introduction:

Grand Canyon West Rim

This portion of the wondrous Grand Canyon not only offers spectacular views of the natural phenomenon, but gives visitors a chance to meet and interact with the Hualapai Native American Tribe that oversees operations here. Grand Canyon West Rim is located on a Hualapai Reservation established in 1883 and is not part of Grand Canyon National Park. It attracts approximately 200,000 visitors every year and its popular SkyWalk glass bridge jutting out from the canyon is bringing in more tourists than ever. Other points of interest on the West Rim are Hualapai Ranch, Native American Village, Guano Point and Eagle Point.

Grand Canyon South Rim

80 miles north of Flagstaff is the scenic Grand Canyon South Rim, the most popular side of the canyon. Receiving over 5 million visitors a year, the southern rim is the perfect spot to watch the sunrise over the Grand Canyon East Rim from Mather or Yaki Point. Or one can head over to Desert View Point to see the picturesque Watchtower, a historical recreation of an ancient tower that once stood over the canyon, and another pristine spot to receive a panoramic view of the canyon. There are a handful of hotels in Flagstaff or the nearby small town of Tusayan, but a trip from Las Vegas is manageable.

Hoover Dam

This concrete marvel spanning the Colorado River in Black Canyon was built between 1931-36 and originally called the Boulder Dam until it was renamed in 1947 after United States President Herbert Hoover, who played an important role in getting it constructed. Hoover Dam extending from the states of Arizona and Nevada is one of the largest man-made structures in the world at 1,244 feet long and 726 feet high. It produces hydroelectric power, supplies irrigation water and prevents flooding. The U.S. National Historic Landmark that created Lake Mead is visited by more than seven million people annually. Hoover Dam designed by engineer John Savage and architect Gordan Kaufmann. Located nearby Lake Mead and the Grand Canyon, plenty of Hoover Dam tours will include a visit to all three of these amazing attractions.

Tour Overview:

We begin the day by traveling to both the East Rim and the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. The view is just breathtaking and inspiring. We'll then be off to Las Vegas, passing by Hoover Dam. Upon our arrival in Las Vegas, there is an optional Night Tour to explore the Las Vegas Strip for an additional cost. Alternatively, guests may choose to have free time in Las Vegas.

Grand Canyon East Rim --- Desert View Drive is a scenic route to the east of Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim which follows the rim for 25 miles out to the Desert View Watchtower and East Entrance. Meanwhile, the Watchtower also commands a magnificent view of the Grand Canyon.

Grand Canyon South Rim --- The South Rim of the Grand Canyon attracts over 5 million visitors each year and by far is the most visited side of the Canyon. As with all sides of the Canyon, the South Rim features astounding views of what took Mother Nature millions and millions of years to create.

Hoover Dam --- Passing By the beautiful Hoover Dam is located 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River. The massive concrete dam was a monumental undertaking built during the Great Depression and dedicated by Franklin Roosevelt himself.

Las Vegas --- Las Vegas is known as the "Entertainment Capital of the World" for a good reason-- casinos and hotels line its streets, and visitors can gamble, see shows, and shop at virtually any hour of the day or night.
