Day 1: Calgary - Banff - Bow Lake - Abraham Lake - Calgary

Introduction:

Abraham Lake

Abraham Lake, also known as Lake Abraham, is an artificial lake and Alberta's largest reservoir. It is located in the "Kootenay Plains area of the Canadian Rockies' front range", on the North Saskatchewan River in western Alberta, Canada.

Bow Lake

Bow Lake is a small lake in western Alberta, Canada. It is located on the Bow River, in the Canadian Rockies, at an altitude of 1920 m. The lake lies south of the Bow Summit, east of the Waputik Range and west of the Dolomite Pass, Dolomite Peak and Cirque Peak.

Banff

Banff National Park is Canada's oldest national park and was established in 1885. Located in the Rocky Mountains, 110–180 kilometres (68–112 mi) west of Calgary in the province of Alberta, Banff encompasses 6,641 square kilometres (2,564 sq mi) of mountainous terrain, with many glaciers and ice fields, dense coniferous forest, and alpine landscapes. The Icefields Parkway extends from Lake Louise, connecting to Jasper National Park in the north. Provincial forests and Yoho National Park are neighbours to the west, while Kootenay National Park is located to the south and Kananaskis Country to the southeast. The main commercial centre of the park is the town of Banff, in the Bow River valley.

Calgary

Calgary is a city in the Canadian province of Alberta. It is situated at the confluence of the Bow River and the Elbow River in the south of the province, in an area of foothills and prairie, about 80 km (50 mi) east of the front ranges of the Canadian Rockies. The city anchors the south end of the Statistics Canada-defined urban area, the Calgary–Edmonton Corridor.

The city had a population of 1,285,711 in 2019, making it Alberta's largest city and Canada's third-largest municipality. Also in 2016, Calgary had a metropolitan population of 1,392,609, making it the fourth-largest census metropolitan area (CMA) in Canada.

Tour Overview:

[Castle Mountain] You cannot live up to the scenery along the way and it brings you to another unique landscape. You will have a photo stop for the stunning Castle Mountain. (Sightseeing: 15 minutes)

[Lake Louise Village South] We will have a lunch stop at Lake Louise Village. Grab a lunch to go and continue the amazing journey.

[Bow Lake] is a stop you will not regret taking while you are traveling across Icefield Parkway. It is the perfect place to view the Crowfoot Glacier, Wapta Icefield, bow glacier, crowfoot mountain and Mount Thompson. It really seems like the ultimate all-in-one package. (Sightseeing: 15 minutes)

Then we will head to the mysterious "bubble lake" [Abraham Lake]. Unlike the many natural lakes in the Rocky Mountains, Bubble Lake is an artificial lake. And because of this, the organic matter at the bottom of the lake produces methane gas during the decomposition of bacteria. When the lake is frozen during the winter, these gases are frozen in the ice layer on the lake's surface, creating a wonderful "bubble lake" landscape in front of you. (Sightseeing: 30 minutes) You can choose to add-on Helicopter (additional charge) Professional pilots will accompany you while the flight overlooks the magnificent Rocky Mountains.

At your own expense, add a helicopter experience. Professional flight pilot with 20 minutes flight time.
