Day 1: San Francisco - Yosemite National Park region

Introduction:

San Francisco

The unique California city is famous for its iconic Golden Gate Bridge, fog and cable cars. San Francisco was founded in 1776 by Spanish settlers and named for St. Francis of Assisi and the city grew dramatically during the California Gold Rush of 1849. Popular sites are the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, Coit Tower, the crooked Lombard Street, Transamerica Pyramid, San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park and Chinatown. Now, plan your San Francisco travel for your next vacation. Find a Alcatraz Tour, Things to do in Fisherman's Wharf or take a Golden Gate Bridge Cruise to see the beauty of San Francisco.

Yosemite National Park

Yosemite tours and guided activities are a great way to discover the national park. You can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more. This nearly 2,000-square-mile Central California treasure that was established in 1890 contains giant sequoia trees, spectacular waterfalls, rugged mountains, pristine streams and unparalleled nature scenes. Yosemite National Park stretching through a portion of the Sierra Nevada Mountains welcomes more than 3.7 million people per year for activities such as hiking, camping, rock climbing, fishing, horseback riding, picnicking, skiing and snowboarding. Your Yosemite tour can lead you to Yosemite Falls, Bridalveil Fall, Mirror Lake, Half Dome, El Capitan, Mariposa Grove, Tunnel View and Tuolumne Grove. Join a Yosemite tour and let our professional tour guides bring you to see Half Dome, waterfalls and more in this amazing natural place!

El Capitan

The 3,000-foot tall rock formation in the Sierra Nevada Mountains within Yosemite National Park is extremely popular with rock climbers and at one time was thought to be impossible to scale. El Capitan often referred to as "El Cap" was pictured on the 2010 quarter for the "America the Beautiful" collection and is the largest pillar of granite in the world. It is one of the most recognized and popular landmarks in the park. The Spanish name El Capitan is a translated in English to "The Captain" and originated from the Ahwaneechee Native American word for captain.

Tour Overview:

We will pick you up in San Francisco and head east past some interest windmills through the San Joaquin Valley to arrive in Yosemite National Park. Bridalveil Fall

The 617-foot waterfall located within Yosemite National Park flows all year and might be best known from a famous Ansel Adams photograph. Ahwahneechee Native American legend says the spirit Pohono lives in the falls and puts a hex on anyone who looked directly at the falls. It also notes those who breathe in the water mist will have a better chance at marriage. Bridalveil Fall is the first waterfall that many guests see when entering the California national park.

We had a great two-day tour of Yosemite: the bus was rather comfortable, the pit stops were much welcome on such a long ride, and we've actually made it back to SF much faster than I would have expected. Overall recommended for people that would like to visit places likes Yosemite, but don't have a car.

We did the overnight tour. At the first day, our driver/guide Gino was an excellent driver and guide. We stopped at Raley's, a very good supermarket with lots of good groceries. Then, at the Yosemite we went on the Tolumne Grove trail, wher e we saw several giant Sequoias, and we stopped by a few amazing and we'll picked view points. At that day, there was also time to walk to the Yosemite fall, a very easy walk which really worth it. At the second day we were picked up around 3p.m. so we had enough time to hike. Aoke, our driver/guide was also really good. Before we arrived in San Francisco, she also took us to an island where you can see an excellent night view of San Francisco. The only thing I have to complain about is that we weren't dropped off at our hotel, but 12 minutes walk from it (and we had some luggage). Aoke picked a few central spots and dropped most of the people there. If one would like to be dropped off at his hotel, he could stay on the bus and wait till the whole l

I really enjoyed the tour. The driver/ guide, Denise, is professional and nice. I felt safe sitting in the tour bus although the route to Yosemite is quite “exciting”. She also provided many information and interesting storie about SF and Y osemite. The staff are also very responsive. Everytime I sent emails or called to their office, I got answered. This is very important and useful to a foreigner like me. I would definitely recommend your tours to my friends.
